On the Nature of Change and The Requirements of Organization Thereof: A Treatise in Twenty Minutes

Yeah, I made that shit up.  Sounds fancy tho, right?  Omg, I just said  "tho" and "omg" like this is Facebook or something!

So.  It is 7:08pm and I'm going to write for twenty minutes.
"Why?" do you ask?
Because I'm setting some goals.

As per usual, I was distracted from work by a Lifehacker article on Facebook this morning.  In brief, it said that little changes add up sooner than you think.  So, I started thinking, what small changes can I be making?  (http://lifehacker.com/the-value-of-marginal-gains-1514453003)
Also linking to that article was another about setting a schedule instead of setting goals.  (http://jamesclear.com/schedule-goals)
So, combine to two.... what small changes can I make to accomplish some goals.  Except I still needed some goals.

I've never been very hard-core about goals.  I usually have some consistent nebulous ones- work out more, lose weight, eat healthier.  Then I have some inconsistent nebulous goals- be more artsy, be more creative, write a novel, learn to belly dance or hula hoop or play didgeridoo.  These are usually passing fancies versus the nagging persistence of the former list.  So that's quite a few possible goals, but I get bored with things very easily... so that's two categories of goals.  Maybe I should make it three.  I've always been bad about keeping up with my cleaning, so there's my third.

So, my idea is to spend 20 minutes a day from one thing in each category- but I can only do each one once a week so some days are easier or harder than others and maybe it will encourage me not to procrastinate on the hard ones.  And if I go over 20 minutes, so much the better.

Today I did running, cleaning the kitchen, and I'm finishing up with writing.

And in case you were wondering, here's the list of things I get to choose from:
Exercise: Running x2, Yoga x2, Legs workout, Arms workout, Dance
Creativity: Writing x2,  Digderidoo, Hula hoop, Belly dance, Draw, freebie
Clean: Kitchen x2 (its always the messiest), Living room, Foyer, Bedroom, Porch, Garage

So, there they are.
Oh yes, I also wrote each of these on sticky notes and lined them up below the days of the week I wrote on my bathroom mirror.  Each day I can take off what I've done and put it next to the day and maybe at the end of the week I'll take a picture of it. And I just lost sight of my text because Basil has decided to lay in front of my computer screen.

I kind of like writing.  I think I'd like to find a way to generate random topics to write about.... and OMG BASIL GET YOUR FURRY HEAD OUT OF MY WAY!!

So it's 7:29 and I did take maybe 2 minutes to look up those articles.  And pet Basil.  Who is still in the way.

So, my time is up.
Future writing topics:
Books
Stories
Daily events (probably the easiest to do)
I should definitely work on some fiction.  Maybe I should change one Write sticky to (blog) and the other to (story).  Good idea.  Will go implement.  Until next week!
